The Quest for Poons

My crazy actions nor whatever I did
Would lead me from this maelstrom.
So, here I stay and make my bid
On whichever gambles you play on.

I fell headlong and could not stop
For fear of futher injury,
But at the bottom, with a hop,
I had lost naught but my own fury.

I came to a log and sat upon
That once strong fallen tree.
There I pondered on my knees
Who in life I could depend on.

I asked a woman's advice
On what to do as a lady,
But she told me to play it twice
And not be such a baby...

With curious strength I could not foretell,
One came to me preparedly
He helped me to quite readily propel
Foreward against all odds easily.

I travelled near the land o'lefties,
And there I forged an alliance
With a King of pleasant gallantries,
Who ignored all risks except reliance.

At first I felt a little awkward
To tell him I was slow.
He told me I was no coward-
Hence not fear his machismo.

The King gave us a map
Promising all manner of toys,
And unto all of staff,
He kept his promise -- to the boys.

Past Scotland and Loch Ness,
We searched high and low.
We went now to fulfill the quest,
To find the ultimate hero...

The hero needed to be magical;
He had to have a forgiving heart.
He needn't to have been critical,
But we needed Him to be an upstart.

We came upon a giant man
Whose friendship had no gravity.
It bounded high above our hands
And matched an angel's levity.

We watched the angel's wings unfurl
To hide the sun from all our doings.
She reached down and touched a girl
And assured her of all her musings.

We stuck together a bit remiss,
Not knowing what it would cost.
A day then came and was full of bliss
Because there was no more chaos.

At first, I felt no pity -
For these men who didn't get the hint.
We tread through fields so pretty
That I turned back just to squint.

The sight I saw was prodigious.
Their souls' faiths defied death.
We took in the view a bit delirious
With wonder and lack of breath.

I realized then we'd run out of time.
We had not completed the job
That could very well take a lifetime,
And I had to hold back my sobs...

I know not whence I came to this
Place of utter "mad."
But all the secrets that I might miss,
I'm glad I'll never have.

The secrets are yours to hide in shadow
To keep with you in life until
Every bit of your earned bravado
Disappears and keeps you still.
